Winemakers’ Cookoff Set to Return to Paso Robles, Raising Funds for Local Students

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Paso Robles, California – March 31, 2022

The Rotary Club of Paso Robles is pleased to announce the return of one of the largest wine and food events on the Central Coast of California – The annual Winemakers’ Cookoff in Paso Robles, California.  The event is set for Saturday, August 13th, from 6:00-9:00pm at the Paso Robles Events Center.  The Winemakers’ Cookoff, now in its 23rd year, is a fundraiser put on by the Rotary Club of Paso Robles to benefit local high school students with college scholarships.  To date, the event has raised over $1,000,000 and last year alone gave out nearly $90,000 in scholarships.

The scholarships mean a lot to the high school students of Paso Robles.  One recipient of a scholarship from this event, Torri Pugh, said: “I have such a deep gratitude in having received a Rotary scholarship.  It enabled me to worry less about the financial burden of college and focus on academics, and I have felt encouraged to continue working hard in my schooling and volunteering within my community at U.C. Davis because of it.”

Many of the students stay in touch with the Rotary Club on their academic journey.  Another recipient, Zoe Murphy, said: “I really appreciate the membership of Rotary and their decision to award me this scholarship.  The scholarship has allowed me to start on my college education and continue my journey to achieve my goals!  Thank you all so much!”

The 2022 Winemakers’ Cookoff is predicted to be a smaller event than in past years, as it was last year, but will continue to raise funds for local youth thanks to community and the sponsors, like Stifel who is the title sponsor.  The committee is expecting 20 local wineries and breweries to participate pouring wine and beer and competing in the cookoff for both Judges’ Choice and People’s Choice awards.  Some of the past participants expected to return again this year include: Ancient Peaks, Asuncion Ridge, Bovino, Calcareous, Cass Winery, Dubost, Eberle, Hope Family Wine, Hoyt, Midnight Cellars, Peachy Canyon, Pear Valley, Penman Springs, Venteux, Volatus, and Cal Coast Brewery.

Attendees must be 21 years or older to attend and ticket sales will be limited.  Tickets are available for $95 per person or $50 for designated drivers.  Sponsorship opportunities are also available.  For more information on the Winemakers’ Cookoff, visit https://winemakerscookoff.com
